Satan’s Disobedience and Humanity’s Sufferings

According to Okronkronyi Nyame Somafo Yawoh, Satan does not torment animals or burden them with hardships, calamities, adversities, tragedies, or catastrophes. This is because Satan has no quarrel with animals. They are not his concern. However, Satan afflicts humanity with suffering, predicaments, accidents, misfortunes, and tragedies because he has unresolved enmity with humans. It was humanity’s creation that led to Satan being cast down to earth. This is why Satan relentlessly wages his war against mankind.

Here is how it all began: God created everything in existence. After completing His creation, God decided to create man to care for and oversee His works. He convened the heavenly entities to inform them of His plan. But the spiritual entities objected, arguing that the creation of man was unnecessary. God, in His infinite wisdom, assured them that His plan would proceed because He knew what they did not.

God then created Adam and endowed him with a brain. To demonstrate humanity’s potential, God asked the heavenly entities to name the various aspects of His creation. Despite their great powers, none of them could do so. Then God turned to Adam, who used his intellect to name every part of creation.

Impressed by Adam’s accomplishment, God commanded the spiritual entities to bow to Adam as a sign of respect for what he had achieved. All obeyed, except Satan, who refused. Satan declared that he would not bow to a being made of dust and clay, for he himself was created from fire and considered himself superior.

For this act of disobedience, God cast Satan out of heaven and banished him to earth as punishment. Before departing, Satan pleaded with God for a form of recompense, arguing that the heavens were a place of endless joy and the earth a dreary exile. He asked God to pacify him for the joy he would be leaving behind.

In response, God decreed that Satan could claim as his own any descendants of Adam who chose not to follow God’s will. This pact emboldened Satan to dedicate himself to leading humankind astray. But for those who fall into Satan’s grasp, there is no reward—only suffering. Satan has nothing good to offer. To those who align themselves with him, he bestows only misfortune: suffering, accidents, calamities, hardships, adversities, and tragedies.

This is why people who turn away from God often endure needless suffering. Satan’s gifts are only the bitter fruits of rebellion, while God’s path remains the source of true joy and peace.
