Satan Is the Enemy of Humanity
Written by Mensah Adinkrah, Ph.D.
In a recent teaching, Ɔkrɔnkrɔnyi Nyame Somafo Yawoh described Satan as “the enemy of humanity” (nipa ne tanfo). He emphasized that Satan harbors no hatred toward goats, sheep, or any other animals. His hostility is directed exclusively at human beings. Animals are not his concern; humanity alone is his target.
Ɔkrɔnkrɔnyi Nyame Somafo Yawoh explains that this singular hatred exists for a specific reason. According to his teachings, Satan’s fall from heaven was directly caused by the creation of humanity. It is because of humankind that Satan was cast out of the heavens and sent to the earth.
He teaches that, long ago, Satan was among the powerful spiritual entities in the Kingdom of the Most High God. In the early moments after creation, the Most High God summoned all the spiritual entities and informed them of His intention to create human beings to live on earth and care for His creation.
The spiritual entities strongly objected. They knew that the Most High God had created hell beneath the earth, and they believed that any being who came into contact with the earth would inevitably sin. Despite their protests, God proceeded with His plan. He told the spiritual entities that He was all-knowing and possessed wisdom beyond their understanding.
After the creation of Adam, the Most High God gathered all the spiritual entities and asked them to name the things He had created. They were unable to do so. God then gave Adam the same task, and Adam successfully named all the items of creation. Because Adam accomplished what the spiritual entities could not, the Most High God commanded them to bow to Adam as a sign of honor.
All the spiritual entities obeyed—except Satan.
Satan refused to bow. He argued that he had been created from a superior substance and would not bow to a human being formed from earth, clay, and dust. Because of this defiance, the Most High God ordered Satan to leave His Kingdom and descend to the earth.
Before departing, Satan protested. He appealed to the Most High God, saying that heaven was filled with joy and glory, while the earth was a bleak and burdensome place. He asked what compensation he would receive for being sent away from the heavens. According to Ɔkrɔnkrɔnyi Nyame Somafo Yawoh, the Most High God then entered into an agreement with Satan.
God told him that Adam would have many descendants and that any of Adam’s descendants who refused to worship the Most High God could be claimed by Satan.
Ɔkrɔnkrɔnyi Nyame Somafo Yawoh teaches that Satan is the greediest of all spiritual beings. After coming to earth, he did not limit himself to those who openly rejected God. Instead, he actively sought to deceive humanity—lying, manipulating, and misleading people—in order to increase the number of human beings who would fall under his control.
Satan’s hatred for humanity, he explains, is deeply rooted in resentment. Satan knows that if Adam had not been created, he would still be in heaven, enjoying life in the presence of the Most High God. Humanity, therefore, represents the cause of his downfall and exile.
Before Satan was sent to earth, the Most High God stripped him of the Holy Spirit. However, Satan retained the raw spiritual power he possessed while in heaven. Without the Holy Spirit, Satan cannot command events into existence in the same way the Messengers of God can. Those sent by God operate with the authority of the Holy Spirit, while Satan operates only through deception, manipulation, and borrowed power.
According to Ɔkrɔnkrɔnyi Nyame Somafo Yawoh, understanding this spiritual history is essential for humanity. It explains why Satan relentlessly opposes human beings and why spiritual vigilance is necessary in the struggle between good and evil.
